Installation Considerations for Self-Priming Pumps

Before installing the self-priming pump, suitable concrete foundation should be prepared according to the basic size of the self-priming pump, and the anchor bolts should be pre-embedded during the process of making concrete foundation. Large self-priming pump products require concrete foundation, while small self-priming pumps do not.

Before installing the self priming pumps, carefully check whether the various bolts of the self-priming pump are loose or not, whether there are foreign objects inside the pump body, so as to prevent damage to the impeller during operation of the self-priming pump.

Place the self-priming pump on the concrete foundation, put seismic isolation pads between the base plate and the foundation, and adjust the height of the seismic isolation pads to level the self-priming pump. After adjusting, tighten the bolts.

The suction pipe and discharge pipe of the self-priming pump cannot be supported by the water pump, but need separate brackets to support the inlet and outlet pipes. The diameter of the inlet and outlet pipes should be consistent with the diameter of the self-priming pump. In particular, the diameter of the inlet pipe cannot be increased, otherwise it will affect the self-priming height of the self-priming pump. If the inlet pipe of the self-priming pump is reduced during installation, the outlet pipe must also be reduced. We recommend using the best corresponding pipeline according to the factory standard diameter configuration.

When encountering a dust cover on the entrance and exit of the self-priming pump, remove the dust cover before connecting it to the pipeline. It should be noted that when using the self-priming pump product with the fastest water suction, the outlet pipe must turn vertically upward at one meter before bending, otherwise the water drawn from the inside of the self-priming pump during the self-priming process is very easy to be drained.

In order to facilitate the maintenance of the self-priming pump and ensure its safe use, a regulating valve should be installed on the inlet and outlet pipes of the self-priming pump, and a pressure gauge should also be installed between the outlet valve and the pump to ensure that the self-priming pump is used within the rated flow and lift range to extend the service life of the self-priming pump.

Before starting the self-priming pump, move the pump shaft and pour liquid into the pump cavity to fill the pump cavity and exhaust air. Check whether the pump leaks or not. The impeller should not have friction or jamming sound. If there is friction or jamming sound, the self-priming pump should be disassembled and the specific reasons should be checked and solved.
